It was with the addition of two new members in 1982, vocalist and keyboardist Jenny Ross and vocalist Angela Cassidy, that Section 25 found their distinct and influential sound. This line-ups first release From The Hip (1984) marked a new direction. The songs were poppier, more accessible to the masses and, most importantly for Section 25's success, danceable to. The album's Roland T303 squiggle beats are often deemed the beginnings of the acid house dance movement and debate abounds as to whether or not this proved an influence on the US techno scene. A remix of 'Looking from a Hilltop' became a Trans-Atlantic club hit, and an extensive US tour on its back marked the peak of their career.
