In this case the judge has even determined that he's not a paedophile so why are people upset that that he's only getting a small sentence?

Really i just feel a bit sorry for the guy who doesn't appear to have hurt anyone but has had his entire life destroyed, I think he needs help not lifelong punishment

But, basically, I think looking at kiddie porn should be a crime. It is right and just that it is. Even if you dont directly support the crime via payment or whatever, by viewing it you are implicating yourself in that crime.

but by that logic if someone was abusing a child anyway and decided to take pictures one time those pictures are ok cos he or she wasn't abusing the child for the purpose of pictures

Both. Technically i suppose you can look at something without being "in possession" of it but i believe the legislation on kiddy fiddler pics in ireland refers to "making a copy" which is what anyone caught downloading it gets done for. And it's not just photos or videos - you know those oh-so funny Simspons porn cartoons? Some of those would be considered "an image" of child pornography under the terms of the act.

Under the Act, the possession, distribution, importation and exportation or sale of all forms of child pornography - films, video or material in written or auditory form including material produced or transmitted via the internet - are offences with penalties of up to 14 years' imprisonment. Mere possession of child pornography can be punishable by imprisonment for up to 5 years. Using a child or allowing a child to be used for the production of child pornography is also punishable by up to 14 years' imprisonment.

Superbad was easily the best comedy I've seen in yonks. It never lagged despite being over 2 hours long, had real soul, and beats the shit out of the much more hyped Knocked Up. Anyone looking to smile go see this movie!!
