While browsing Buy and Sell I found this:
Premier drum kit. Leinster Dublin 11
24 ,12 ,13 ,14, 15, 16, 18,old black kit.no snare or stands 650
Rang and asked some questions about it and told him I may be interested.
He told me that the kick is missing the front head and that the 18" floor tom is not Premier, but Remo, and matches the kit perfectly.
I'm 99.9% sure that this is my old kit that was stolen from my flat when I was on holidays in LA 13 years ago.
Is there anything I can do? As far as he knows, I'm just interested in buying it.
Its brought back all the anger and frustration from when it was first stolen.

Chances are it wasn't him that stole it. You could ring the guards and ask them for advice or you could ring some heavies and arrange to pick up the kit from his gaff.

if you can prove that it's yours, then it's still yours. the fact that someone else bought stolen goods isn't really your problem.

Thats mad frustrating.

I had a daycent bike stolen offa me years ago.

About a year later i was walking past a bike that was locked and again was 99.99% sure it was my stolen bike.

I realised there was nothing I could do to prove it was mine and left it.

buddy of mine had the same experience, out walking with his wife, came across his stolen bike miles from home...left the wife there to guard it and went home and got a hacksaw....got the bike back.

what's so identifying about this kit that makes you think it's yours Eric?

If you reported it stolen at the time, then ring the Guards. They may or may not do anything, but the least they could do is call around to your man and ask him some questions about where he got it from. He may just say he didn't realise it was stolen and hand it over.

If you didn't report it stolen, then you'll have no real proof you ever owned it.

Good luck with it whatever you decide to do.
