the opening is so much better alright. i do prefer the dog burst too.

but i think the Golic thing is savage. he's a proper character. didn't know what the fuck he was doing in the original. makes so much more sense with that section in it. and for some reason i understand the geography of the place more for it.

Paul McGann (is that his name) said in the interview how his friends would come up to him and say "we saw your new movie, and you're in there for the first bit and then you just.....disappear".
And did you notice how he has like tons of accents in it. When he reappears in the extended cut he has this mental liverpool accent for some reason.
