its still really uncertain though so don't be getting too worried just yet. It seems to change by the hour. But one thing seems not to change - the further west you are the better chance of escaping it.

looking more and more likely. Even met eireann are starting to mention it and they're normally really conservative about their forecasts.

There is a good deal of uncertainty about the prospects for the following few days as there will be a battle going on between the very cold air coming from the east and the milder air coming in off the Atlantic. The latest indications suggest it will become less cold especially in western areas during Friday and Saturday with rain moving in off the Atlantic and spreading eastwards, however a danger exists that this could bring some snow for a time further east if the cold air persists in more midland and eastern areas.

right, its a little bit clearer now. The best chance for accumulations are friday and its only really the east thats at risk (especially Dublin).

But, whatever happens, it should all end by saturday night.

And, theres a chance of a mini-heatwave in the middle of next week (though its far too early to be able to say with any certainty).
