hello, Second Square to None is a Dublin-based event organizing / music promoting collective, and currently we're doing a weekly mp3 series on our blog http://www.secondsquaretonone.com, focusing on different aspects / approaches to what can very loosely be described as "noise" music being made in Ireland at the moment. Every Wednesday an exclusive MP3 and interview of a different artist is posted for your (dis)pleasure!

So far the submissions range from synth drones to musique concrete to turntable manipulation to feedback jams:

Artists featured so far:

cool stuff. we need a noise night where only 15 people turn up and half of them are performing. myself, photon and assorted deserted villagers make up the other half. i miss those nights. : (

very cool! didn't know this existed

i think more people would turn up to noise gigs if the performers put more effort into putting on a performance. altho i usually like the music/noise there isnt much appeal in watching somebody press buttons etc for half an hour and stare at their equipment. though having said that that's what a concert pianist does as well...

series is really good - kudos to ed. there was a decent crowd at the sunday (lazybird!?) night hati/wereju/etc
gig in the legal eagle a few weeks ago - didn't see none y'all there - keep moaning though

In fairness, what can they do liven things up? Pressing buttons and staring at equipment is pretty essential to making the music.

What about putting your hair in pigtails, wearing a bra and punching members of the audience?

at my next gig, I'm gonna make a point of getting off the stage and getting close to my audience. Will probably go and give high fives to the peeps in the front row. All 3 of them.

I stand corrected. Who's big enough to be the GG Allin of the Dublin noise scene?
