SEASICK STEVE

Seasick Steve is unique. His live show has converted everyone fortunate enough to have witnessed it. He wowed The Big Chill, Belladrum…and his appearance on Jools Holland's New Years Eve Hootenanny sealed the deal. His credentials are impeccable (Lightnin' Hopkins, John Lee Hooker, Modest Mouse amongst many!), yet he favours to brush aside the past and point you in the right direction: his blues-based storytelling anthems are today, ladies and gentlemen! In his own words "It's like being in a dusty library where people want to make sure the book is on the right shelf. Well, this book ain't on the right shelf!" . He's the hippest kid in town, and his crossover appeal is remarkable. From Charlie Gillett, Jools Holland and the establishment, to young guns such as the Zutons, The Pipettes, Art Brut and The Kooks – everyone kneels before the altar of Seasickness.
Steve Wold is called Seasick Steve because he gets, erm, Seasick!

After leaving home at the age of 14, he became a genuine hobo (hopping freights, working the farms, getting locked up and such ) in the 1950's and 1960's – but always dragging along his 100-year old guitar with him, playing on street corners to earn enough to eat. This era is the inspiration behind the music he plays today, and boy does he have an arsenal of tales to tell!
He started to get asked to perform in and around his native Bay area of Cali, and opened for Son House amongst other blues giants, and actually played in Lightnin' Hopkins' and John Lee Hookers bands. He went on to play with all sorts of weird and wonderful people, but you would really have to want to know to find out who. Around this time he started to build up his stock of classic analogue recording equipment, including an original mixing console from the legendary Stax studios in Memphis.

In the 90's he put this equipment to infamous use when he set up Moon Studios in Olympia, WA (Kurt Cobain lived upstairs!). He made records with the likes of Bikini Kill, Murder City Devils, Modest Mouse…he was actually a member of Modest Mouse's touring band early on…

He moved his studio and family to Norway in 2001 (his wife being Norwegian) and united with the Level Devils, returning to his his first love – THE BLUES! They recorded an album "Cheap", released on Steve's own label There's A Dead Skunk Records. A series of fuck-ups led Steve to losing his studio and suffering a heart attack in the process. After a recovery period, he picked up where he left off – this time as a one-man-show in case the collaboration with the talented/insane/hilarious/wonderful Level Devils killed him!

He recorded Dog House Music in his kitchen. Teaming up with Bronzerat Records in the UK, this album is fast becoming a hit record with universal critical acclaim and already lodging itself in the Top Ten Independent Charts.

The man is a genius, his live shows are "life-changing" and Seasick Steve is here to stay…………………………………………………………………………

KING CREOSOTE

King Creosote releases his the new single 'You've No Clue Do You' on Friday, August 31st.The single is the first to be taken from his eagerly-anticipated album for Names/679 /Warner entitled 'Bombshell' out the following Friday, September 7th.

'Bombshell' is the successor to the widely-acclaimed 2005 album 'KC Rules OK' and sees King Creosote - also known as the Fife-based singer-songwriter Kenny Anderson has delivered his finest hour to date.
Highlights include the propulsive 'You've No Clue Do You', the best country rock highway driver the Eagles never wrote ("they couldn't have managed the Fife accent nor the lyrical puns on Cluedo."). At the other end of the Creosote spectrum is 'And The Racket They Made', a shimmering, hymnal duet sung by Anderson written by fellow Fencer HMS Ginafore (aak Jenny Casino).

Between these polarities, there is menace aplenty in the title track, and a healthy slice of romantic self-mockery - Anderson's default mode as a lyricist - in 'Cowardly Custard'.

A veteran of almost thirty albums, mostly released solely as limited editions CDRs, King Creosote raised the stakes with 2003's 'Kenny and Beth's Musical Boatride' album, his first to receive a widespread release courtesy of Domino Records.

The following year's fabulous 'Rocket DIY' set took Anderson to the next level before moving to 679 for 'KC Rules OK'which confirmed his potential as an accomplished singer-songwriter whose talents could no longer be confined to the underground of British folk.
