i know its very funny to make fun of the lower classes and their penchant for putting the word "the" in front of christmas. however, im starting to notice people saying "the christmas" as if its the normal thing to say.

this has got to stop. i want it for my christmas box.

It's part of our KULTURE rampz. Called Hiberno-English. I, for one, think it's deadly. "I'm on one for the Christmas", one might say.

no, my cousint said it was wrong to say "the christmas"

oh by the way, are you ready for the christmas?

Y'all are Brits. Go back to your topsy-turvy protestant world where the bread you eat at mass isn't the actual body of the child whose birth you're celebrating.

Does anyone really believe in "transubstantiation". For serious?

I bet even P. Benedict himself makes tiny, imperceptible quote signs when talking about it.

It's possible that christ was made of bread. As he said "take this all of you and eat it. This is my body..." he could well have been tearing yeasty bits off one of his legs.

I live in town and work in Ballybough/summerhill

also for some reason this thread reminds me of The Grinch :\

Well maybe I may have heard
"Are ya looking 4ward to the christmas"
