Well, I have seen (and tasted) cabbage pickled in vinegar passed off as sauerkraut - which it's not.

The ingredients on the jar I got says "cabbage + salt".

I love anything pickled, me. Best sauerkraut I've got here is Kuhne, though there's probably better out there. I got some boring one in Centra that was imported from Ukraine - not up to much. I fuckin' love sauerkraut.

It'd be awesome to make some, not sure how to go about it.

What I'm on the lookout for here is really good pickled herring and heavy rye bread. I think the bread's in some of those polish shops and Aldi, but a good herring these days is hard to find.

For some reason, I eat pickled things while drinking tea. Is this wrong?

My ma keeps buying stuff in the Polish supermarket and I haven't a notion what half the stuff is. The sauerkraut I'm eating is Krakus branded.

had saurkraut tonight with shite sausages. the kraut was out of a jar. not nearly as good as the silver bag stuff from centra. mustard is a must.
