Thanks to all that came and supported Soul Sister No.1 Marvellous Marva Whitney & Osaka Monaurail on Friday night, it was a memorable performance and the atmosphere was excellent. This week we have a very exciting DJ excursion to look forward to in the form of Ninja Tune's Bonobo...read on for the scoop on the self proclaimed 'monkey man' who received Gilles Peterson Album of the Year 2006.

NB: Read Below for full details on next week's live extravaganza...Hypnotic Brass Ensemble's exclusive Irish debut at The Sugar Club, HBE sold out London's Sheperds Bush Empire last Friday night and we have included a link to some mind blowing NY Times video footage below.
We anticipate this will be our best live show of the year and tickets are selling quickly, therfore we cannot recommend this gig more highly and we don't lie, so get involved!

Brighton was where he released his debut album ANIMAL MAGIC on the Tru Thoughts label in 2000. With this album, completely self-produced and mainly self-instrumented, he became one of the "new downtempo pioneers" and his chilled, beat-driven music captivated press as well as many major labels. Not happy with being labeled 'downtempo', Bonobo decided to sign for Ninja Tune and switch up his style and in 2003, after one album of remixes on Tru Thoughts in 2002, he released Dial M for Monkey. In 2005, Bonobo contributed to the Ninja Tunes Solid Steel series, with his Bonobo presents Solid Steel Mix. The mix features several exclusive tracks as well as remixes and re-edits. His latest album, entitled Days to Come, was released in October 2006. The first single from the album was "Nightlite", featuring vocals by Bajka. The track also appeared on the soundtrack of the game UEFA Champions League 2006-7. Days To Come was voted Best Album of 2006 by Gilles Peterson listeners. In 2007, Bonobo's track "Ketto", was featured in a Citroen C4 Picasso advertisement.

The name says it all, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble is 9 piece band comprised of 4 trumpets, 2 trombone, a marching baritone, a sousaphone and a drum-kit.. But more to the point – the head-charge effect of Hypnotics music come from the groups unique tonality and the original works by its members. The brass players are all the sons of iconic Chicago composer Kelan Philip Cohran, trumpet player and cornetist with The Sun Ra Arkestra and the founding member of the ground breaking Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians before he formed the legendary Artistic Heritage Ensemble with future members of Earth Wind & Fire in the late 60’s. While Cohran's sons absorbed much of his father’s music theory. It wasn’t until 1999 that they came together as the Hypnotic and infused their own distinctive training with influences from soul, funk, hip hop and classic musics from around the world. Since 2001, the group has offered 3 CD's of original, lush and lyrical work for sale at engagements in Chicago, LA and New York City, where they play club dates in between inventive impromptu performances on the streets of Manhattan.
Profiled in the New York Times with a full 6 minute video feature, HBE began 2007 with a string of sold out dates at Lincoln Center, Brooklyn Academy of Music and the Apollo with Mos Def (They sold out London’s Shepard's Bush Empire last weekend), international appearances at the North Sea Jazz Festvial, Frankfurt Historiches Museum, Arrnhem Biennela, Bread & Butter - Barcelona and some collaborations with Dutch Jean label G-Star.
Damon Alburn has them pencilled in the studio to work on the new Gorillaz Lp, which will also feature De La Soul. A recent remix of Tony Allen on Honest John’s has garnered them even more respect on the dancefloor with Deejays and clubbers alike. Hypnotic Brass Ensemble will play The Sugar Club on Friday 7th December. Early Show
