Thanks to everyone who came to the punk festival in Roscommon, we'd a great time and hope you all did too...at least until the misplaced police intervention. We also really appreciate that everyone cleaned up after themselves where they were camping and so on.
For the record, 25 Gardai showed up, in what was described by Irish TV station TV3 as "the biggest drug squad operation in the midlands for 3 years". The police alledged to have seized "quantities" of cannabis & ecstacy. What they actually found was a 10-spot of hash, some girls' birth-control pills, and poor Donal's plectrums (suspected acid tabs, alledgedly!).
Batty isn't shutting down or anything like that, in fact he's adamant that gigs will continue.
£500 was raised from the festival which is going to Temple Street Children's Hospital in Dublin.
We're currently looking into procedings against the police -if you were beaten. attacked, or treated in a way "unbecoming of an officer of the law" please get in touch ASAP, we need all the help and support we can get. You can e-mail me at [email protected] or by phone at 0903 25103 (00 353 903 25103 from the North).
