Bank Holiday Monday May 6th, 2.30pm, GPO, Dublin:
Reclaim The Streets - Street Party
Bring your radio, skateboard, football, family, spraypaint, fliers, sense of humour, love of life and anything else you can think of...

check out http://www.indymedia.ie/rts for more info and updates...

there's a critical mass on that day as well, leaving at 2pm from the usual spot.. the cyclists and pedestrians will then converge at about 2.45-3pm.

can't wait.

is there a SIPTU/labour type march on the same day in the morning? maybe you could flyer that, get some of them to come down, something different, y'know..

the trade union march is on may 1st . . at like 7pm .

if the last one is anything to go by then reclaim the streets is gonna be wonderful .. the police get so confused .

Why can't ye organise both things on the same day? It'd be fuckin rappa to fuck the whole city up for the day.
Also,do they have mayday protests in north america,i've heard nothing about anything going on here in terms of protests.

hey everyone,
Yes nine in north america they do have mayday events.
I'm in Boston and they have this fucking amazing 5 day event planned from the 1st to the 5th. With three different protests and some direct actions.
So if you can make it down drop us a mail.
The webthingy for that is http://www.festivaldelpueblo.org

Or check your closest indymedia site for goings on in your part of the world.
http://www.indymedia.org for links onto local sites.

peace

Yup,i know about indymedia, forgot to check it though.Thanks.
Still,if there is a protest planned for toronto,i've heard fuck all about it.

Alright sunshine. You get my last mail to you? I'll be mailing you again soon about going to Wellington.

There's a May Day march in Auckland alright, and although its independently organised it has a 'red' feel to it rather than an RTS type buzz. Although there is a group here called Wake Up Auckland who seem kinda cool. They're involved with it as well... they're sort of more local-based, at the moment they're doing a (well supported) campaign against council gafs being sold off, was at a meeting last week about it was interesting.

I was under the the impression that Reclaim the Streets was Class War rebranded for a new milennium, and thus very red indeed.

I think these events get hi-jacked by the "reds"...it's a pity, because I think it turns people off....

Couldn't agree more.it's especially annoying when they force the socialist worker down your throat. You can't help thinking that if they were a little less pushy they may actually get though to a few people.

RTS in most countries is very anti-authoritarian and very much about the empowerment of all at grassroot level. (Not really somehting the "reds" are into).
An example of which is the RTS london were involved in orgainizing a People's Global Action conference. and the PGA are far from "red"

Hey,i'm in no way dissin' the RTS,i think it's a great thing.I just think people get a bad impression of it when they get all the socialist stuff thrown at them.If we could keep it a party atmosphere, then it would be so much more effective.

the travellers are holiding a protest against that new bill (see http://www.indymedia.ie for more info), you should leaflet/flyer that as well for the RTS gig, I reckon they'd be well into it.
