picked up from the post office yesterday
Records27May029.jpg

front left is Beck's One Foot In The Grave

the Upchurch LP is a repress. OG was five times the price. Storming version of Crosstown Traffic.

Quincy Jones - Golden Boy has a great version of A Hard Day's Night
while the I Had It All score swings really well.

another familiar VV quartet

Buddy Rich Band - Big Swing Face. Live LP. 1967.

Ray Davies And The Button Down Brass - A Button Down Party LP. Sublime parping 'El Condor Pasa' to the ridiculous 'Gilbert O'Sullivan medley'

Mike Sammes Singers - Our Love Story

really liking the Johnny Harris

I bought a packet of smoked bacon medallions and a packet of unsmoked bacon medallions, among other things, in Lidl earlier.

Isn't that one of the worst album covers you've seen? The font is all wrong aswell.

There's lots of good songs here, but like a ham sandwich it's quiet plain in places and needs a bit more "zing". The music is played in a very workman like manor, no frills. Not bad, but you'd expect a bit more personality.

just landed

Ron Grainer - Tales Of The Unexpected and Other Themes LP
Nice selection. Disco mix of TOTU = bonus!

Music De Wolfe - Quartet Of Modern Jazz Volume II LP
First two tracks are probably best here - Moving Day and Confusic. Light mood pieces.

Gabor Szabo and The California Dreamers - Wind, Sky and Diamonds LP.
Deadly album, EX nick.

Records27May033.jpg

Various - The Radiophonic Workshop LP
Some spectacular electronics on this, especially Paddy Kingland's closer.

Johnny Harris - Movements LP
Needs no intro. K pressing.

ummm... maybe it does!

:)

Life-changing album from 1970. Percussive, has the funk in parts, easy grooves and super cover versions [Paint it Black, Wichita Lineman, Light My Fire, Give Peace A Chance].

Footprints On The Moon used to accompany moon landing screenings.

Great appraisal here

Was in Amiracle for a while, picked up a coupla nice rekkids. Mad cheap mostly.

Dead Milkmen - Bucky Fellini
Lydia Lunch - Oral Fixation
Throwing Muses - House Tornado
Plasmatics - Beyond the Valley of 1984
Band of Susans - Love Agenda
Breaking Circus - The Very Long Fuse
Devo - Are We not Men? We Are Devo!
Baby Flamehead - Life Sandwich
Mississippi John Hurt - Today!
Stan Getz & Charlie Byrd - Jazz Samba
X - Under the Big Black Sun
Love & Rockets - Earth Sun Moon
Keith Jarrett - The Koln Concert
Trail of Dead - Madonna
Mountain Goats - Tallahassee
The Bags - Rock Starve (Mistakenly thought this was by the LA punk band. Later realised they never even released an LP. Ah well.)

Perhaps most interestingly: a recording of Kurt Vonnegut reading Cat's Cradle, for which I paid 25 cents. I went looking up about it later, could only find 1 or 2 references to it, including this :

Hot dog!

Ohyeah, recent ebay buys:
Blind Idiot God - Blind Idiot God
Live Skull - Dusted

Both slightly wrecked copies from some radio station but I fuckin love that BIG album to bits.

Three Kilkenny chazzas yielded two records
Mostly battered and crap stock.

Various - Decca Phase 4 Stereo Sampler LP
Highlight is Johnny Keating's Listen.

James Newton Trio and Quartet - Binu LP
Fairly freeform jazz from 1977. Quiet pressing. Nice flute work. Thing he may have had a run in with the Beasties at some stage. Anyone else know this one?

Today's arrivals
Records27May037.jpg

Stereolab - Mars Audiac Quintet 2xLP + 7"
Stereolab - Fab Four Suture 2x10"
Nice to get Ulan Bator on wax.
Missed four of the six FFS 7"s so a good round-up.

Lill Lindfors - Du Ar Den Ende LP
On the wants list for a while. EX copy. Love the version of Don't Think Twice It's Alright - probably my favourite Dylan cover.

The Silhouettes - Conversations With LP
Sealed - is it real? This came from the US, on floppy vinyl and was sealed. The matrix numbers tally with OG listing had so seems kosher. Definitely not the Italian repress.
