Back in the day pre-DAT's we had a sony f1 deal that was a primitive a/d-d/a converter set that used a stereo vcr to record to. And if you have a stereo vcr (regular analog tv type), you can mix down to it, since the heads spin as the tape moves, you get an effectively high tape speed/much less noise than cassette tape. And if you WAY overdrive it, it'll sometimes make for cool images on the tape(like pulsing abstact snow)..|..|
