Raspberry Pi - Teach, Learn, and Make with Raspberry Pi

What's the story here - has anyone got/used one? I know next to nothing about computing but these seem rather manageable and, more importantly, affordable if I get bored after a few days which may well happen.
I don't plan on doing anything too mad, just a bit of fecking around.
Can anyone recommend or disapprove of it or its competitors?

I have a psp that I turn on once every 6 months to play megadrive or PS1 games, so I'm probably already covered.

Want to get one at some Stage - I'd use it as a Media Server/Torrent machine..
