Funny thing that maybe yee camera buffs can help with: The fog in all the pics I've taken was much thicker to the naked eye than what came out in the photo's.

You need glasses.

Ah no, seriously, it's all down to technical madness like the sensor in the camera, how the camera exposes the scene, how you compensate for fog, etc.

Try and compensate by adding an extra stop, or EV, or whatever your camera has....

How can u say Coolock is the city, I could never stagger home from town to Coolock lol
about 5 miles which in euro terms is about 8 kms?
I do well to stagger to D1 lol

if memory serves, you should not use a polariser to take photos of fog - it's good for cutting through haze, so can lessen the effect of fog,
