It varies a lot depending on the iso, I whack it up to 1600 or 3200 if I want to get the clouds without any motion blur.

how do you avoid the noise problem at such a high ISO? any examples?

The noise is a bit shitty. I have a couple of examples somewhere I think. I'll dig them out in a while

for such a high ISO the noise isn't bad there, or am i wrong? what kind of light were you working in there? daytime,dusk? i suppose that can affect it. nice shot.

I took your advice on the black and white contrasts but in this case I used lightroom 1st for the antique look and then proceeded with the high contrast, my fav of that nights set.
Might even print and frame it for Turlough.
