Post suggestions, discuss stuff, upload mixes etc

Starting with my two Peruvian acquisitions

El Alamo - Malos Pensamientos LP, 1971

not too heavy, nice fuzz, English vocals, occasional Santana comparisons.

Should still be available for download here

Telegraph Avenue - Telegraph Avenue LP, 1971

Latin groove, soulful Californian influences, "Jerry" guitars

This thread should have way longer legs -

So I'll go with the Pink Fairies - Neverneverland. The vinyl of this has re-issued (your only man - http://www.lpcdreissues.com/) and it's one of the nicest vinyl packages ever - all of below plus it comes in a painted plastic cover. And of course a great LP to boot.

[I know this is more acid rock or whatever, but sure anyway...]

Wow, that looks amazing!
Takashi Nishioka - Manin No Ki I bought last year in Japan. The first half is really nice. Floats along in a folky-marimba-variable speed way.
My pal over there who liked Bunalim also copied me Chrissy Zebby Tembo, naive sounding Nigerian psyche-ish from 1974.
elektronik_turkuler_web_fro.jpg

Elektronik Turkuler, which started this thread. Erkin Koray's first LP proper from 1974, thin sounding drums, totally deadly psych versions of trad tunes, except for the last one which he wrote.
Ronnie Von's A Maquina Voadora is the third LP on this link. I think it's deadly poppy tropicalia business, Mark and Dudley hate it with all of their hearts.

Can anyone recommend any good turkish stuff, contemporary or otherwise? i know there's a big psych underground there but i'd interested in pretty much anything.

I'm all about the Injun Classical. You can't beat 20 centuries of unbroken tradition for fine-tuning a form. Check out some of Debashish Bhattacharya's modified guitar antics here:

Actually, now that I think about it, some of this is on on Saturday in Town:

Hi,
There will be an informal concert of Indian classical and experimental music this Sat 5th, @ 2pm, in Oxfam bookshop, Parliment Street, Dublin 2.
Oxfam are having live music in their shop every Saturday in April.
Free in, but donations to Oxfam are accepted, or you may wish to buy a book/CD

Koushik Chandra Shekar - Tabla and Mridangum
Dara O'Brien - Sitar
Dorothy Murphy - Voice and Accordian

Indian Classical Music Society of Ireland

good stuff there, will have to get on the downloading game, not one for it and actually don't own an mp3 player, but that Erkin Koray record is a triple figure kind of job

but heres one for less than a tenner

German Pop with killer drums, this is brillaint stuff!!

Great thread! Just downloaded the Erkin Koray and the Nigerian one .....

Out of many others, these jump to the top of the pile in my mind.

1. Traffic Sound - "Virgin" (Peru, 1970)
cover_368814122005.jpg

Acid-drenched folky mellifluousness from the Upper Amazon !

And this :

2. The Outsiders - "C.Q" (Polydor, 1968)

The very wonderful people at Lost in Tyme have this up here - one of the very best psychedelic/pop albums made by any band at any time - check out "Doctor" for a no-holds barred blast of TRUE PSYCH (inventive, experimental, shoot-to-kill attitude- not some wimpy mondo-lounge-exotica-blandness)

I sat in an empty bar in Bodrum (when it was just a village) in 1986 with Larry Hagman (From the TV series Dallas) listening to this. For me it was the start of a major foray into middle eastern music. 4 years later My World Music Program even got great a review in the Irish Times (Alice's Restaurant) Pirate Radio.

Thai Beat A Go-Go and Cambodian Rocks comps are great. More exotic rock n roll than psych

recent comps that have rocked
