a great bunch of lads?
@ann post would I be right in saying that there is no legal obligation to show "both sides" when talking about the issue because there is currently no referendum to change the law coming up?
Its a lot more relaxed. More fluffly language like 'in current affairs all opinions should be given consideration.' you couldn't go full 1984 on it, but you are defo not under the the 50 / 50 rule, and its treated more like conversation is.
The question is though, was it broadcast or was it just online? Because you can do whatever you like online - you are basically still just livejournal right now.. The code only covers TV and Radio to date. Online is more likely to to fall under the print code at present from the NUJ. Print code is a picnic compared to broadcast. Its more 'one for all and all for one than' than 'refer to subsection 23a'. Print makes a killing online calling broadcast biased from this. Like in print all you need to do is say its an opinion piece and not slander anyone and you are grand.
I might be out of date but i think journal.ie is the only actual online news that the NUJ think is legit.
