...and i really had my little heart set on a Tortoise headband...

Bet the gig wasn't that good either was it ?? Let's face it, Tortoise just aren't that good anymore , the critics are afraid to be critical of their new album and the emperor has no cax.

a tortoise headband - you cruel, cruel lout. wait til the animal welfare people hear about this...shame on you.

...cue a heart wrenching rendition of 'See My Vest'

"see my loafers, former gophers...."

c'mon people!

Great gig...great promo cd....very happy....

Yep. I got an aled jones album t'other day and he was doing nothing of the sort wayyy before tortoise.
I thought the show was cool, if a little austere; they could have rocked, or extemporised at least once.
That Ken Drum guy sounded fucking amazing - you would have loved him Vin.

sorry to meander but....

i saw a shit 'arty' band who did a song called 'irony' and it went: 'post raaaaaaaaawwwkk gets stuck in my letterbox, can you smell the irony? post raaaaaaaaaaawk gets stuck in my letter box repeating to infinityyyyyyyy'

i laughed.
momentarily.

No ever, ever, ever, ever has a go at Ronnie Whelan on my watch. right?

thought the gig was quality stuff - better than nearly everything I've been to this Spring (especially certain chancers with the words 'Yo' and 'Tengo' in their name, for one). Liked the liberal amount of elbow room caused by slack ticket sales as well; nice not to have to fend off lit ciggies to the eye all night - take note, gaspers. I would sport a Tortoise headband, were one available.

Tortoise's new one in't the worst. There are some fair kickin' noodly tracks on it. The one with the talkbox guitar's a wee bit dodge mind. Bits of it sound like mouse on mars... and it's a more fun record to listen to than their other ones I think. In short: quit dissin' it or i'll bait your fuckin' face off.

nice to know i didn't waste £16.50...
maybe it'll knock some sense into heads who believe that such hyped-up and trendy bands are worth paying large sums of money to see in the flesh...

I would have paid my inheritance to see that. The two drummer thing worked well. I'm totally biased here....
oh!...

very very good....

Yo La Tengo were great in the olympia.
However, Mouse on Mars last night was the best gig I ahave seen in fucking ages. So much less cuddly than the recordings, and a mental drummer behind a huuuuge kit. Not only that, but Street Thunder hired a stripper to pretend to DJ for them this time, and again had mostly porn for visuals. Fucking marvellous night's entertainment.
You're gonna need a ladder to get offa that high horse Damien ;o)

Absolutely
Mouse on Mars were incredible. Best gig I've been to in months - walls o' noise and that drummer is incredible. Far better than at Shitness.
