Pink Floyd (1 Viewer)

I'll sell you my case and throw away the cds - discount since the light no longer works. I bought it on my way back to school after lunch the day it came out and my class mates got it and didn't give it back for ages, the little shits. Threw it up in the attic everything, I nearly cried. And after all that it was useless. I think the solo in comfortably numb was fairly melty
I didn’t know how to rate that post so went with informative. My uncle bought Pulse when it came out and I remember being fascinated by the blinking dot when I’d visit.

I presume i already prattled on about the book "In The Pink" by Nick Sedgewick but it's a really interesting snapshot of PF in the immediate aftermath of Dark Side's success, trying to adjust to being huge at a people-dealing-with-nuts-and-bolts-of-it-all level e.g. new mixing desk trouble, socialist wife ashamed of wealth, is everyone putting in the same effort?, having all this staff, turning 30 etc

Piper at the Gates of Dawn is still my favourite. Yes it's dated & of its time, but thats one of the things I love about it. Pity they didn't include Arnold Layne & see Emily play on the album. Piper gets my vote as the best psychedelic album of the 60s.

the fucking Chapman stick has to be the worst instrument ever invented.

I don’t have to listen to it to know that, it’s from after Meddle so it’s going to be crap.

Wow, Pink Floyd and Tony Levin's Chapman stick in 1987

At least I think that's what those amazing bass thump things are that come in once the tune proper kicks in. Very effective use of pan pipes in there too, and Gilmour's last really melting solo.

It’s actually OK despite it all.
