People Who Died (6 Viewers)

Sorry to hear about Billy Bingham.
As a player he was a very good winger with Everton and Sunderland.
Bingham famously performed miracles with NI at the 1982 World Cup and NI narrowly missed out Euro '84
(8 teams qualified) after managing to beat West Germany home and away.
Norn Iron also got a 0-0 draw at Wembley in November 1985 to edge out Romania and qualify for Mexico.
As I remember there was a lot of good will in 'The South' towards his teams and some surprising behaviour in his last match in charge v ROI in November 1993 was, I would like to think, very out of character.

Phil Bennett (1948 - 12 June 2022)
Fly-half for Llanelli and the all conquering 1970's Wales team.
''Look what these bastards have done to Wales. They've taken our coal, our water, our steel. They buy our homes and live in them for a fortnight every year. What have they given us? Absolutely nothing. We've been exploited, raped, controlled and punished by the English - and that's who you are playing this afternoon''.
Wales duly won 14-9 to deny England the triple crown (1977).

The Hogan/Andre ‘evil twin referee’ angle with him and Earl was one of the greatest things ever.

Which then gave the world this amazing delivery of a classic line from Hogan

Top post Pete, this was slightly before my time. classic stuff.
Shakespeare ain't got nothing on the WWF writers.

also didn't realise King Kong Bundy (1954-2019) was gone - RIP.

Just saw on twitter that Liam Cahill passed away. Some of you might be familiar with him from his @LimerickSoviet account, as well as his own personal one. He was a great man to debunk claims by Trumpists during the elections about Irish slavery, trying to use them to justify being racist.

His most recent twitter handle was @liamcahill2013

He was still active 2 days ago. RIP.

I only made the connection thanks to your post. What an amazing mind.
