Jean-Claude Annaert (1935 - 12 September 2020)

Parisien racing cyclist, pro from 1955-66.
never heard of him but..... he was a domestique of Anquetil from 1961-63 and 1966
and a team mate of Shay Elliot 62-63 and Poulidor 64-65.
he rode 4 Tours (1957-62) a Giro and 2 Vueltas.
Annaert had several good wins including GP Iserbergues, stages of Paris-Nice,
the Criterium International and stage 8 the 1962 Vuelta which was won by his
team mate Rudi Altig with Elliot finishing third.
Annaert was also a team mate of Jacques Anquetil for his 1962 Tour victory.

RIP to this lady. Can someone explain why this is so significant? American politics is really confusing sometimes

Supreme Court Justices are a lifetime appointment. RGB was considered part of the liberal wing of the court, currently a 5-4 Tory split but the notionally conservative chief justice seems to be playing it reasonably down the line in recent times. However Trump getting to seat a third justice in his term could shape American life for decades to come and puts things like the right to choice in play. This is bad news

I was also unsure why a judge was so revered and loathed by everday Americans. Irish judges just seem to give unduly lenient sentences to sex offenders and attend golf dinners with politicians and media types.
