hello...

can anyone recommend a simple (and free) piece of software that will allow me to mix and record mp3's on a PC.

i've had a look around and have not had any joy...

cheers

Isn't there a free version of Pro Tools?
You could use total recorder and then use another program to mix.

free protools with mp3 option

Hey y'all-
protools free is at http://www.digidesign.com
scroll down to Protools Free. 8 audio and 48 midi tracks; you can record in and use the "bounce to disc" function; output format choices will come up, and you can select wav, sd2, and mp3 in a variety of bandwidths. I think the mp3 option is a 15 days trial, though I'm not sure. But Protools is worth having a familiarity with, especially as the free operates just like the LE version and very close to the TDM/HD version.
