Really good voice, really well-written songs, and a really good personality for the stage. Don't tell anyone I said this, but I preferred her to Katell Keineg.

aye ive seen her play a couple of times. better than katell keineg fo' sho'

I didn't actually see an awful lot of Ladyfest acts due to volunteering, but...

My Personal Highlights:

  • Being taught how to knit ribbing by a lovely 16 year old knitting expert
  • The moment I realised we were going to be able to cover our expenses
  • Seeing our softly spoken knitting circle host's transformation into Easpa Measa front lady. Holy Jesus.
  • The Queuing Man who was first in the line every day, and all the people who travelled from far and wide to attend
  • The lovely pint of Guinness I had at 10:30pm on Sunday.

My Personal Lowlights:
  • Missing the stencilling workshop, and then being on the door when all the happy stencillers came in with their lovely stencils
  • The moment of horror when we realised that Parker/Calix weren't going to make it
  • My mother meeting a bunch of vegans whilst wearing a giant leather coat

after everything finished on sunday i stopped off in apache on the way home to feed my face with food, and there were these two scottish girls in there that i got chatting to, they'd come over specially for ladyfest and were going on about how much fun they'd had. that was probably my favouritest bit. along with my ma's workshop apparently going off really well, and my ma being totally impressed with the whole buzz. and easpa measa in dresses.

I saw nothing on sunday! I heard clodagh wail though, and that was nearly as good.

Also, I got to purchase one of only 2 sock monkeys on sale. Which pleased me mightily. AND his name is Thurston.

Mwwwwahahhaha hahahahahahha!
He looks so lovely in my flat, sitting up with his legs crossed.

Sorry for the delay in this post of gratitude. I was worried I was going to encounter some of the not so nice posts that I had heard about from before the fest and I didn't want to lose my buzz.

Thank you Ladyfest, for being. For bringing. For belonging.
The workshops were great. The Alliance for Choice presentation was great. The Sexuality and Gender Identity, while not as academic as some might have liked, was useful in just giving breathing space to this issue soooo many people are craving to find affinity in. La Fraction were fucking KILLER. Katell was an act of God. Clodagh & Co. were brilliant! (Woman, I had NO idea!) MEDEA have NEVER sounded better! Got a text on Sunday asking if they're playing anywhere again soon. The dancing was a blast. The old friends I haven't seen and the new friends I'd made (Hi Peter & Sinead) was an added bonus. PLUS, all the skinny, gruff, punk and sensitive indie-boys you could ever want in one room!

Thanks for letting me get my feminism on.

I had a blast.

Rest and enjoy our praise. You deserve it.

See what hope can do?

Love,

Your Thomas
