Mercury Music Prize (1 Viewer)

yea i dunno, i suppose there has been a dearth of really good British music lately.but they always go on about how eclectic the shortlist is and they never have any rock.like proper rockin.would've liked to have seen Giddy Motors or someone get a nod.

what's the criteria again? you have to be from Britain or Ireland, do you have to be signed to a major aswell or something?

No, not a major I don't think. You have to pay an entry fee to be considered.

Yeah, what's the deal with that? Is it explicitly Great Britain & Ireland or are they conveniently forgetting about the achievements of Michael Collins, Aidan Quinn & the baddie from Die Hard in 1922. Maybe we want them to forget. I sense a change in the air regarding Irish attitude towards the brits. We want plantations!!!

Fionn Regan, an Irish singer-songwriter who's not a cock. He should win and be made knight.

I'm surprised the Burial album didn't get on that list.

Leafcutter John perhaps deserved a nomination.

is burial last year?

and maybe because he's anonymous, that would have fucked it up for them.

patrick wolf should have gotten a nod.

I'm not too sure what the closing date is for submissions for the 2007 Mercury Prize but most of the albums on the list were released in 2006.

Patrick Wolf?
I have to wave a perfumed handkerchief in front of my face even passing by a rack of his cds.
;-)

Ive got a tenner on each of The Crowded House, DJ Beethoven and the Salman Rushdie Nose Flute Jazz Orchestra. But to be honest as long as the winner is middle class I'll be pretty happy.

miss out on that nomination again vinnie?
