You know one thing that is really nice about a Mac (specifically the iMac).

It comes in a box. A fairly compact box. You take it out of the box and there is one plug. You put this plug into the wall and it starts working straight away. This pleased me so much.

The MacBook hasn't been shipped yet so it's completely untested.

i think i read somewhere that Jobs claimed they'd be 4x faster, but it turns out they're 1/4 faster....

i doubt it pete. People are alrealy raving about the imac and that previously had a G5 chip. The latest powerbook was a G4 so I'd imagine that the speed jump will be significant.

really? maybe i'm just thick, but a lot of PC laptops i've seen for sale online running 1gb RAM, 100gb HD, slower processors, and XP seem to retail for similar prices to the new macbooks, which from what i understand have a better OS and lots of shiny accessories and whatnots.

is there a good site online for good PC laptops?
i was thinking about getting one that i could partition the harddrive on so as to have a login for general internet/student apps and a seperate one with a stripped down OS for running protools.

fantastic cheap place for pc's is www.jes-computer.de/ . Sure it's in german but lash the specs into google translate and yer flyin. I just bought http://www.jes-computer.de/product_info.php?pID=20836 which has a deadly graphics card and serious power for much much less than most places. It also has that Glass-look screen like on mac's.
