Had myself booked in for an all day online training course run from Manchester for next Monday.

Made the booking not realising it was a bank holiday here next week.

Got an e-mail this morning to say it's been cancelled.

You're right it's Thursday and Friday this week, I thought it was Friday and Monday but was also just blaming everything on the jubilee.

saw shellac last night, with a few friends — first “real” gig in over two years — and it was great. I’ve seen them a load of times, so it all felt very comfortingly familiar. the surrealist uncles party piece showtime noise rock brechtian cabaret jamboree. but one of the friends I was there with had never seen them before and was truly blown away. it was lovely!

Out for a walk at 5:30am, making plans and listening to 13 Songs for the first time in a very long time. Bad Mouth stops me in my tracks. Sun coming up. It’s a beautiful fucking day.

Another early morning walk. I think I like living the hospital schedule - 6am start today, so a bit of a lie in. Was raining a little, didn’t matter.

We’ve been living here over 25 years and there’s still places within walking distance that I’ve never been, so it’s time to fix that I think. As a reward I met a huge Alsatian who ran rings around me demanding a few ear scratches. Happy days.

I know a couple of people who during lockdown used Strava or similar to track their go at walking all the roads or paths within 2km of their house.

I had a serious(ly embarrassing) conversation with a hospital dietician a couple of weeks ago, and as a result I’m learning how to cook. And I’m enjoying it too.
