I've been kinda feeling the same, but i realised that what makes the great episodes "great" is when stuff that seemed trivial or was raised in the past (not necessarily exciting) episodes is given meaning or explained. I guess if they're gonna make up such a complex storyline, they're gonna have to take time to develop and explore the charaters.
