really? is it cool to get books for two year olds? i guess her mum and dad can read it to her. i couldnt read much til i was 4.

Yeah, cos they'll grow into them. And as the book will be sitting on a shelf for years waiting for them to read it the kid will be curious to read it. The best thing about the present is giving the kid the feeling of anticipating of a book.

Don't think I read this - know who wrote it? Googling those two words brings up all sorts of hippy sites.

The Secret of the Ruby Ring

Loved that book. The sequel, Martha and the Ruby Ring, was great too.

I remember, after one of my birthday parties (possibly 7th), sitting down with 'Matilda' in one paw and a giant box of maltesers in the other and thinking that life just did not get any better.

Enid Blyton - everything but highlights are
- Two Bad Boys
- The Put 'Em Rights
- The Land of Far Beyond

Judy Blume - very funny
- Superfudge
- Tales Of A Fourth Grade Nothing
- Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret
- Iggie's House
- Otherwise Known As Sheila The Great

Roald Dahl - the lot.

C.S. Lewis - Chronicles Of Narnia. I love these but many don't.

Anthony Buckeridge - any of the Jennings series.

i've been reading tales of a forth grade nothing to my class of 7 year olds over the last few days..the thing that they find funniest is the name fudge..and now they all keep saying each other has cooties..which gets fierce annoying after a while..but still deadly book..

i also loved:

I love the way the cat is drawn in those books. Very cute and funny books! Plus they teach kids about black magic.

When I was older I loved Anthony Horowitz
