Keyboard on Laptop gone mad (1 Viewer)

Help!
Either I have a virus or I have disabled some function by accident or something. Pressing individual keys like an 'a' was bringing up a few characters at a time. Something like afgh=
I rebooted. Now some of the keys do nothing while the 'm' brings up an 'n' and the 'p' brings up a '7' etc.

Any ideas?

If 'p' types out as 7 it sounds like you have the numlock turned on.

Maybe you accidentally switched to a different language input setting?

P is now bringing up nothing. A is bringing up j. 5 is bring up 6. The del key is bringing up 6.

Yeah. Was thinking that. Its completely fucked now though! It won't boot up - asking me to press f2 to enter setup or f12 for multiboot selection. Neither work/ do anything.

Managed to log on again,But bottom row characters z x c v b n m are still not right. Up and down arrow keys do nothing. I know it sounds like a num lock or scroll lock or language setting issue - thanks for suggestions lads,but its not as far as I can see.

Using the On Screen Keyboard is painful

Something similar used to happen on my old laptop when it overheated...

Boot it with a linux live disc in the CD drive (burn one in work) and you'll very quickly find out if it's a hardware or software problem.
