Fucking hell

I tried ordering I Hear A New World Calling a number of years ago in my local record shop but they couldn't get it. Must go and download it. I love Telstar and it is also apparently Maggie Thatcher's favourite song. That song "Have I the right to hold you?" sounds mental too.

Yeah, I heard I Hear A New World on a Rough Trade compilation from a few years back and really like the track. I'm reading 17 by Bill Drummond at the moment and he mentions Telstar so thought I'd investigate. Some tune. Have I The Right to Hold You is great too.

What a legend.

I Hear A New World Calling is a concept album as well as the name of the track. I think I got one or two of the tracks off kazaa or grokster or something like that years ago. On my dead computator.

a similar and almost as mental innovator of electronic pop music:

Nerds will also note that Meek invented compression.
"I hear a new world is an amazing track - must hound out the album somehow.

Heard the Bruce Haack song called Program Me recently and almost shit myself...

The EP Collection and The RGM Legacy are great Joe Meek sets.

BBC 4 showed a documentary on him recently. Good viewing.

Have the RGM legacy, it's very good. It makes gas how most people interviewed in the accompanying literature don't really have anything nice to say about him.

try and find "school for robots"
its brilliantly ridiculous, doesn't seem to be on youtube

My band a do cover of this Meek produced classic.....

I first heard this tune in the seventies. It was on the B/side of Bottlers Xmas by Brendan Grace.I still have the record and Brendan dosent credit anyone with the song. It's a live recording, sounds like it was done in the Drake in Finglas or one of those other 70's hotspots.

that career spannig boxset is a bit of a nightmare to listen to

i'd definitely say get I Hear a New World on its own
