It didn't make the top 40 here but suprisingly got to number 1 in America.

Richie has now retired and is was last seen heading toward Portmarnock Golf Club laughing at the ladies protesting in the car park outside.
 
It may not have made xmas number one but every kid who heard it was inspired to write their own xmas song

yeah, i was under the impression that it was pretty easy to get into the top 40 . ive seen piss poor small time bands pop into the charts for a week or two, i remember hearing about one band whose father went around the country buying up the single to get them into the charts and i dont think he had to buy that many.
