Same thing as what happens to most bands you make up Anne. They just disappear into the night, like so many of my beautiful girlfriends.

hhhmmmm not sure about the rest of them but Flat Ponce Escort (or FPE) continued making albums well in to the 80's despite the poor performance of their 2nd album "Copier Paper". "Copier Paper" (Island 1975) is now seen as a breakthru album and "ahead of its time" by many lovers of Krautrock influenced Samba-core punk, Thom Yorke has sited it as huge influence on Kid A. as has Kid Rock and the geeky one from 5ive.

After being dropped by Island FPE went on a privatly funded tour of South America. Their were rumours that this tour was funded by the CIA and an international cartel of cocaine barons and MCD, but that is of little consequence. Four Years into this grueling and ultimatly pointless tour the bands bus carrered off a slippery narow jungle track and plunged off the edge in a fireball of death.....*gasp*!!!

ANYWAY F.P.E. had been recording in various mud hut studio's as their tragic four year trek thru the Amazon had winded it's way to its grisley conclusion and had posted many albums worth of material back to their manager in Bray, when the news came of their tragic end their manager (Bill Grey) released the albums, one every year from 1979 to 1993 to huge critical outrage and hatred and suprisingly few sales.

and thats what happened to Flat Ponce Escort.

sad is'nt it.

Spot on, Rothko, Thorax were indeed from Leixlip - like so many other failed ventures before them.

Flat Ponce Escort hailed, I think, from Balbriggan or some such hot spot. Their thing was horses. They used to sit on horses while playing live, towering 6 feet above the audience in true metaller/aristocrat style. I once saw them at a hotel in Drogheda. The manager had to cut holes in the foam ceiling tiles so their heads could fit through. Great gig, though.

speaking of strangeness, has anyone ever heard any of aidan walsh's stuff before??

a mate of mine managed to come by an album of his a couple of weeks ago. really unsettling stuff with just him gibbering over some loud guitars

shudder...

Someone shot their muck at Life Story Of My Life?

Considering Freakout were trying to sell a copy for £80 before they closed down, I can only imagine what they'd try to sell a spunked-up copy for.

So who is the culprit, P? Tell.

If my husband were here he'd be horrified.
