Well, how about: making it so that people who want to be repped can have a little scales on their posts and those who want no part of it can simply switch it off? ie, making it an individual choice as to whether or not someone wishes to partake in the horrid little game of elitist bullying?

Personally, I think it degrades the idea of an open forum.

EDIT: Right, I just turned off the show my reputation bit in my USER CP and I can't see it anymore. But I do still have a list of the last few reps I gave out. Is that it? Is that the best I can do? Can I turn off the scales on my posts so no can rep me?

Your rep score is visible to you only, identities are revealed of all reppers. What does it matter if somebody with a huge rep score gives you bad rep, as opposed to somebody with a low score? Its one person's opinion, their rep score doesn't make it worse.
