i taught myself guitar in my early twenties from books and its grand. i'll never be jimi hendrix but it doesn't bother me and keeps me off the streets at the weekend!

seriously go for it diddles..you would be mad not to.

This is who i learned from. Mostly 1920s fingerpicking blues á la Rev Gary Davis, Mississippi John hurt, Big Bill Broonzy, Robert johnson etc, although he teaches beginners and all sorts. Based in Drumcondra.

He does banjo lessons as well, so you don't have to play the banjo like a guitar - yee-haw!
