GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip — Exit polls indicated Wednesday night that the secular ruling Fatah Party would retain control of the 132-seat Palestinian Legislative Council, but that power would be shared for the first time with members of Hamas, the Islamist terrorist group.
Fatah took 46.4 percent of the vote, or 63 seats, in the first Palestinian parliamentary elections in a decade, while Hamas took 39.5 percent, or 58 seats, according to a Bir Zeit University exit poll.

anyway the US is refusing to hold talks with hamas.Wonder how long they can do that for.What is the European Union stance on this? Trade etc?

Europe ain't interested in speaking to Hamas as they don't deal with terrorist organistations. Tricky situation as Hamas are not just a gang of gun-toting crazies calling for the destruction of Israel, they are also a charity who do good stuff for the Palestinians.

I'm waiting for whats obviously going to happen when Hamas guys try to travel from West Bank to Gaza or vice versa.

Well sure, the West has been giving Fatah billions and billions for years, which was spent on fancy cars and dinner parties. Hamas got in on an anti-corruption ticket, not necassarily a "lets kill the Jews" ticket.
At any rate, Hamas knows they don't have the political skills, and they're not gonna want a civil war, so they're gonna have to work something out, now that they have responsibility and accountability. so I don't think things will be that bad.........

Hamas are pretty fundamentalist though, which doesn't bode well for the women.
