I've ever had it once and by god I've never been so full in my life. Wouldn't mind trying the veggie version mentioned sometime, now that I'm all righteous and shit.

yeah, i'd imagine the veggie version could be pretty nice - same seasonings and barley and stuff.

My young man makes haggis stuffing, it's great in a roast chicken. Mind you, we have to freeze most of it when he makes a batch, else it's really just roast haggis stuffing with a small chicken hiding in there somewhere.

When I was on to Mortons asking them for a couple of veggie haggises, he was noting down the order going "2 veggie haggises, or as we used to call them in here, 'turnips'".

there was a veggie baked spud shop in edinburgh that did a mean veggie haggis. so there.

Morton's ended up being screwed around by their supplier last year, so they never filled my order. Ended up getting them from M&S, and quite good they were too.

they just had a piece on "the afternoon show" about haggis.

Dont ask why i was watching the afternoon show.

seems the key is to not boil the water, simmer for 50 mins to an hour with onions and carrots.

serve with tatties and neeps....and whiskey

Got some yesterday from M&S. €4 for a load. Did it with neeps and tatties (turnips and mashed potatoes). Gorgeous dinner.

I was just thinking that short of road kill, there are few enough more ethical things you can eat. People are free to correct/flame me on that point.

what M&S was it? Sweetoblivion tried to find some in Jervis today and it was gone. Is it in the pies section or cold meats?
i read earlier that they dont last long on the shelves so maybe we were just unlucky!

I got it in the Jervis one, I think it was over with the sausages.

It must have been sold out by the time SO got there. Your one at the counter said they were selling quite quickly. They probably were just stocking it for Burns Night. There's always next year - or that recipe I linked to above.
