Groom
Groom is a pop band from Dublin whose members are Mike, Wil, Jeroen and Ruan. They have released three albums to date: ‘All This Happened, More Or Less’ (2006, Fairview House), ‘At The Natural History Museum’ (2009, Tight Ship), and ‘Marriage’ (Popical Island, 2010). Groom have played loads of gigs all over Ireland, as well as in Belgium and the UK, and play goodtime indie pop and rock and roll, sometimes reflective and wistful, sometimes fun and reckless. With some other Irish pop bands they form the core of the Popical Island collective.

“exuberant, creative, literate and impeccably produced indie pop…The frontman has that rare gift of being able to convey real emotion and wry humour in simple, beautifully clever language – sparkling couplets shine from every song.” – Alternative Ulster
"File amongst ‘poetic, heartfelt, genre-bending pop’" – State.ie
The Run Ons
Formed as a tribute to record collections (remember them? like a Spotify playlist but harder to carry) stocked with Big Star, Dinosaur Jr, Pavement, too many Matador and Sub Pop albums to list and anything recorded by Mitch Easter. The Run Ons passionately believe that big chords through big muffs into big amps make things better. Makes sense, right? Having teased us with the cracking 'A Great Bunch of Lads' on Popical Island's third compilation, just this month then, they released the equally deadly 'Still Feel' that displayed what the Run Ons do best, chunky rom-rock with liberal spoonfuls of sweet guitar heaped on. We really hope there's more to come from these t-shirt wearing, bespectacled grungers.

Skelocrats
Skelocrats are a band from Dublin, formed in 2012. They are members of the Popical Island collective. If you’re looking for references, we’d encourage you to think of The Buzzcocks, Sonny & The Sunsets, Guided By Voices circa Alien Lanes, Joe Meek, Ariel Pink, Billy Childish, Lyndsey Buckingham’s songs on Tusk, that sort of thing. Hell, you might even find some Suicide in there. Or it could be all Cactus World News to you. It’s not our place to say.

"A work that bears the input of different personalities yet hangs together beautifully. Skelocrats may just prove to be the best thing [Popical Island] has produced to date." - Phil Udell, State Magazine
