Neighbour just gave me his old Ephiphone bass, that he doesn't use. *Needs a proper set up ( bridge is very lopsided) but, free if anyone wants a fix-up project. Just ran it through HX stomp, and electronics work

Oooh, still available?
I’ve a mate who had his bass “borrowed” by someone and he’s been bassless ever since - would love to fix this up for him!

ill fix this up for whoever claims it. i have mad guitar fixing skills ..id love to be of assistance

Shouldn’t cost too much to sort out, all the parts look to be there but the bridge needs a bit of work, there’s also a bit of a design flaw in these (the magnets are too strong)
So I’ll have a mess about with that

You can see what someone else has done with there one here

Should be good fun fixing this up!

Not that anyone will give a fuck but sure ill post progress here in the vein hope that it earns me some social clout!

First up is sorting out these mounting studs, ideally I would plug and redrill these with hardwood but I’m a lazy shite so epoxy it is IMG_1303.jpeg

This all goes well until I stupidly screw the studs all the way down into the mounts and realise that the studs protrude longer that the mounts when you do that, forcing them back up out of the body, thus fucking up my own work!!

The solution is to dremel/file the ends of the studs flush

While waiting on the epoxy to dry the next thing I tackle is the nut, the G string slot has been damaged when the bridge failed taking a chunk of nut with it…. I opt for the old baking soda and superglue fix and it works ok-ish, then I come to my senses and realise this is a really lovely Bass and the original nut was kind of crap anyway and it deserves better so off with the nut- I’ll find a Graphtech one in work
I should point out that I’m a guitar tech for a living and I should know better! IMG_1361.jpeg

Looking at the bridge I can see that the little wing has been bent out of shape,it might not have much impact on setting it up but there’s very little adjustment on these bridges as is- I could batter it back into shape with a hammer or stick it in a vice and bend it by force but thanks to the wonders of guitar tech’s hoarding boxes of old shite I’ve found a perfectly flat one in a parts bin- huzzah!
