Dermot Desmond’s sons to bring Five Guys to Ireland

Bobo's, Jo Burger, Bunsen, Eddie Rockets...
forget about Burger King or McDonalds...
All of you, it's game over.
Only chance of a competitor could come from In'n'Out, and even that could be disputed. Never happen any way.
Alas, a top qwality burger will soon be in Ireland.
Haven't a fucking clue where they'll get the cheese.
Onwards and upwards says I!!!
Godspeed, Five Guys Burgers and Fries!

We have some excellent burgers available. What makes Five Guys so superior?

Aye, some decent burgers here. But the bun, cheese and pickles are what make it special. The love as well. Maybe some voodoo and drugs too.
Sure, Ireland has a load of decent burritos, too. Can't compare them to what ye get state-side though.
Same reasoning that Guinness is shite over there. And crisps too.
Not superior, but something special.

Fair enough. Bring on the burgers so!

I had a Five Guys in New York a few years ago. It was lovely and all but the weather was so hot and humid when we were there, I could barely finish it. Don't remember the chips, might not have got any.

Looking forward to trying again in our more temperate climate, though I have to say we went to a Wendy's a few days later and that was fantastic, closest they have over there to Supermacs (or Steers in South Africa).

Also, you can get brioche buns in Aldi. They're alright.

I went to the one here in London when it opened. Whatever they had for the veggie option was good. I also drank about two litres of Coke as well as its free refills once you're in.

Probably never going back there though as you usually have to queue like a fucking idiot for ages to get into it. Whenever I walk past it there's a queue, even when it doesn't look very busy.

5 Guys is great. There's no reason Ireland can't equal it though.
We have all the raw materials, except American exceptionalism I suppose.

Great chefs here are taking on the burger and making it worthy of its iconic status.
This thing is just the best
Anatomy of an Icon: The Craigie on Main Burger - Eater

I find it refreshing from other chefs making unpronounceable dishes with descriptions that sound like the worst whiskey tasting notes.
