Films of the Year (2 Viewers)

No I went to see this with a mate but I would have gone on my own otherwise. Are you concerned about awkwardness due to all the riding?

I guess. I have mostly female friends. Just wondering what message I might be sending. Or they would think I was sending.
Wait, I am overthinking this. Like a girl.
Never mind.

Yeah, I'd have no problem watching with a female friend. There's so much to enjoy here and it's silly that the film is being defined by a few (pretty cool) sex scenes. Plus it's French so you can tell them it has artistic merit.

Suggested it to the girlfriend, and she said I should probably go see it with someone else. I presume she means a bloke. Maybe she's right and it would be awkward or maybe she's just not that fussed with it. Is a big lads night out to an arty French flick an oxymoron?

I saw Mud the other day, have to say I was disappointed. The performances, cinematography etc. etc. were all great (as far as I would know anyway) and all but the actual script felt a bit rubbish and formulaic to me. It's all very well taking on traditional storytelling/fairy tale ideas but you have to do something new with them and there was nothing but predictability in it to my eyes.

I'd still recommend it if someone asked me but it didn't do much more for me than a well made blockbuster would.

I thought it would be that
she drowns when she crashes into a lake on Earth, because all of a sudden she has to operate in full gravity after spending the last 4 weeks or something being weightless, so her muscles can't handle it and she can't swim her way out
