I haven't listened to them in a while but i have been listening to a playlist of Tilahun Gessesse, Mulatu Astatke and the other ethiopiques compilations all morning.

yeah those albums are really great. There's so many of them now though that I completely lost track. I think they did a best-of recently though.
 
I dunno if it could be called jazz, I always thought it was Ethiopian pop, but I can't get enough of Mahmoud Ahmed's song Tezeta. Amazing song with the baddest bass line. In dire need of a good sampling.

I don't have them all but that's the best one of the ones I *DO* have.
The second one is purdy good too.
