defragging hard disks (1 Viewer)

can anyone tell me what's wrong with my computer - i started the defragmenter programme hours ago but its still on 0% complete(and i dont have THAT many files)...

make sure you've no programs open that are accessing your hard disk - not sure about win2k or XP, but on older versions of windows the defragger would restart from scratch if anything accessed the disk.

If you haven't defragged in a good while it takes aaaggges, you should leave it over night, and if it's only defragged a tiny bit by then you should get some computer nerd to fix it.

pete's right, if you try and run a program or access the hd while defragging, it'll just go back to the start
