have you ever heard steeleye span's 'please to see the king' record.not as psyche/sitar etc oriented as isb/dss but amazing electric folk just the same.

These last few days I've been listening to a 80's music compilation made up by my friend Brian Farrell. It featured Pet Shop Boys, Erasure, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran and many more. It is excellent stuff.

This morning's journey to work was all about 7 Seconds' Walk Together, Rock Together, and the new Beastie Boys.

here's the state of my winamp playlist for the afternoon, having raided the depths of himself's hard drive:
sleater-kinney - one beat
the chalets - theme from chalets
the make-up - free arthur lee
air - all i need
blackstreet - no diggity
william shatner - rocketman
whipping boy - we don't need nobody else
weezer - say it ain't so
beck - sissyneck
2 unlimited - no limit
toto - africa
northstation - not on my watch

must listen to somesort of music now, have had 'oh holy night' stuck
in my head for two days on and off, writing this has also made me think
of the yearly an post ad with 'we're walking in the air'
both in very high boy choir voices...

aaaarghhh

but other than that Yo la tengo, Nuclear war, has been putting me in a good
mood, mostly due to the fact that the kids voices are so cute, more than the actual theme of the song.

only heard the sun ra version, the theme of which to me seemed more about smoking loads of drugs and chanting as opposed to any pressing concern about nuclear annihilation. like the sun ra didn't really give a fuck cos you're fucked anyway; plus he travelled the spaceways and didn't really have many corporeal concerns.
