Whatever you do, don't dig out your old copy of Civ3.. I had to hide the damn thing so I could get some work done. CLASS game. Civ4 is on the way later in the year, I believe.

Haha Civ rule!

Still the original Civilisation game is the best, one of the greatest games ever, definitely the greatest strategy game ever!
Civilisation 3 fucks me off because if you try and play on Emperor or Deity level, the other civilisations just gang up against you and fuck you over by constantly trading technology with each other so you don't have a chance. Still a good game though, Monarch level is about right for it.

Yeah, agreed. There's crazy amounts of reading you can do on Civ3 ; a few years of forum worth in fact. The consensus seems to be that science is a waste of time, so just buy all your advances off the AI. This totally works for me, but I usually start researching again when I get Democracy.
