He really is a Super... man!

The biggest hurdle in his way is the ethical use of stem cells and he's a fine example of how genetics can be used for mankinds benefit..... if strictly controlled

Yeah he does still use it, he went for tests to see if his diaphragm was working and they were hoping it was that way he could start breathing on his own, but it wasnt working and it was heart wrenching to see his reaction.
But fair balls to him for getting this far and being so determined!
