Channel 4 is available as Freeview over in england. It's bundled with their normal sky subscription but you can also get it by obtaining a 'yellow house' card which will also give you Channel 5 & Sky 3 (doesn't give you any subscription channels). You can order a card from Sky for £20 but it has to be sent to a UK address. Otherwise, ebay has lots up for graps...http://search.ebay.co.uk/yellow-house . The only downside is that if you have an Irish sub + Yellow Card, you'll have to do a lot of swapping.

Channel 4, Channel 5 and coincidentally the new Channel 6 are encrypted/not available on Sky Digital Ireland. Until sometime in 2008 (Channel 4 anyway).

Plus if you leave the uk card out of the box for a long period of time, c4,c5 and sky 3 become encrytped again. You then have to put it in the box for about 24 hours until it gets a new code. It can be a pain if your planning to watch something only to be met with the blue screen.
