now i generally just buy albums by bands i already like. does this make me a bad person?
yes

i usually just download to see whether i'd enjoy an album or when its really naff and i'd look uncool if i went into a shop to buy it ;)

haven't used opal for a while but I guess it's just one of many that's folded. even around town, a fair few have closed - Smile, Final Vinyl etc. doesn't seem to be any message on the site but there's no new releases or anything.
Anyone been in/know anything about the Final Vinyl on the corner of Francis St.? Same people as the Camden St. one? Since it's on the antique superhighway I'm guessing it's all 2nd hand stuff. Which is a bloody good thing cos music isn't what it used to be, is it Paul Hardcastle?

I buy direct from artists when I can (just pre-ordered ani difranco's new album online). Try to pick up something if I'm in town and I have cash. I've been buying more now that I live in a town with a few decent music shops. But I rarely buy bands I've never heard. Only twice this year, Hot Hot Heat's album and My Awesome Compilation's album. Both of which I wish I hadn't.
