Going to Brussels for work for a few days at the end of the month. Can anyone recommend websites with things like gig guides or shops, venues, bars/restaurants on? Thanks!

dunno what dates you doing but you could possibly go see john zorn+mike patton or danielson or laibach.

as for restaurants, our kooky Belgian consultant here recommends you avoid the diplomatic area at all costs.

I found Brussels to be extremely boring and not very cheap

I had a good time in Brussels, but no one could help me out gig-wise when I asked here.

If you're into stodgy, hearty Belgian food, there's a deadly place on the main square (Grosse Markt) called 'T Kelderke. Great food, great prices, great atmosphere, good with locals. It's the proper alternative to the rubbish tourist places on some street or other nearby.

And there's some alright bars across Bourse.

The diplomatic quarter is quite, but definitely worth walking around out past Schumann if you have the time. Also, from Schumann, you'll see a cool modern art gallery. Worth the walk up that direction.
